We have only 2.5 hectares of vineyard, where we produce only red and rosé wines and sparkling wines on a small scale, in a region where 90% of the production is of white grape varieties and wines.
Small-run, sustainably produced, without the use of herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilisers and with a VEGAN winemaking process, HEMJ wines and sparkling wines are definitely an experience apart that you won't want to miss!

We have always believed that, due to the characteristics of the grape varieties and the terroir, the production of sparkling wines would be a natural path that would add a certain "glamour" to what we produce. Producing sparkling wine from the Vinhão grape variety would always be to produce a wine of spectacular authenticity...and Rosé appeared naturally...from Syrah!

A fine and light sparkling wine, vinified exclusively from the Syrah grape variety, in a first trial of the traditional method with encapsulated yeasts; Bruto Natural, without "dégorgement", to continue evolving. Pure elegance!!!

A surprising result of balance in freshness conferred by its acidity, adequate alcohol and red fruit. ! A sparkling wine faithful to the variety that gives it origin, fantastic with roasts, from suckling pig to cod.
The original 300 year-old lagar (press) was kept, where non-stop production of Verde Tinto is still going on today, and made a bold experiment in modern architecture by installing our wine cellar and wine lounge in a construction of recycled shipping containers (long before fashion...), insulated with natural cork and improbably appropriate for the space.
In 2020 we will open our "The Farm Shop", with our entire range of wines, sparkling wines and handcrafted products of our own production; a space integrated in our library, open to our guests and visitors and where you can find that bottle to taste or a special offer for family or friends.
Produced from our grapes and our brandies and marcs, here are some suggestions of artisanal micro-production, exclusively available in the Quinta da Cancela shop.
To our Minho Vinegar, we added an Olive Oil from the Douro and a Sherry Vinegar, from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, also produced by family members in a traditional way, which is a constant presence in our hampers, and we have for you a "Gourmet Cruet", prepared to go to the table with its stainless steel tips.
Jams from everything that grows in our organic orchard and vegetable garden, in the gardens of our relatives and neighbours, are made to preserve the flavour of the fresh ingredients, with low added sugar and salt, no preservatives, for a healthy product.
Orange, Lemon, Pear, Apple, Chestnut, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Pumpkin, Tomato, Carrot, the list goes on and on depending on the season !!!
Oregano, lavender, rosemary, citronella, lemongrass, and other herbs grow in our organic beds.
